Packaging material

Marley’s wants to be positive and transparent, that’s why we want to share our packaging materials with you. And why we have chosen to use this type of material.
Our shampoo flakes are packed in a kraft paper bags with a Dutch sustainability number seven. This is the highest possible number for this type of packaging. Besides the kraft paper outside, the bags have a 80mic PE (80 micron polyethene) inside.

Why did we choose for this type of packaging?
The kraft paper bags have a biological appearance that suits with what Marley’s wants to show to their customers. It’s logical that we do not want to use plastic in our packaging, but unfortunately there is no other option. Shampoo flakes are the same product as a shampoo bar. The flakes have ethereal oils and natural colours. If we use a complete paper bag, within two weeks of shelf time the product won’t have a nice smell and colour anymore. This is the one thing that we don’t want to happen. That’s why it’s necessary to have some sort of plastic coating inside of the bag. The positive side of these bags is that 80 micron is only 0.008 centimetre. So if you compare this to a normal plastic shampoo bottle it’s almost ignore able. Besides that fact; after preparing your shampoo, you can throw the bag in the trash with the rest of your paper garbage.
